Cross-tabluation uses two variables and tabulates the results of one
variable against the other. An example would be the cross-tabulation of
parity and live born. Each sow may have several recorded parities
(the columns of the table) and her number of live born
(the rows of the table) is recorded for each parity. So for each sow,
those pairs of values are entered into the appropriate cell of the table.
A cross-tabulation gives you a basic picture of how two variables inter-relate.
It helps you search for patterns of interaction. Obviously, if certain
cells contain is proportionately large (or small) numbers of cases, then
this suggests that there might be a pattern of interaction. |
